Su-Kam commissions state-of-the-art 90 Kwp Grid Tie Solar Power Plant for Engineers India Limited (EIL), Gurgaon

Su-Kam Corporates & Institutional solar Installations Su-Kam, India’s leading power back up, generation and monitoring company in India, has supplied, installed and commissioned a 90 kWp solar power plant for the R&D building of Engineers India Limited (EIL) in Sector 16 in Gurgaon, Haryana in January 2014.

Engineers India Ltd (EIL) is one of the leading design and engineering organizations in South Asia. Established in 1965, EIL provides engineering consultancy and EPC services principally focused on the oil & gas and petrochemical industries. The Company has also diversified into sectors like infrastructure, water and waste management, solar & nuclear power and fertilizers to leverage its strong technical competencies and track record.

The state-of-the-art 90 kWp Grid tie solar Photovoltaic system on the rooftop of the EIL building shall generate over 1.25 lakh units of electricity/year thereby helping EIL save over Rs 10 lakh rupees in electricity consumption annually! The entire system comprises of 3 Nos. of 30 Kw Grid Tie String inverters fitted with 300 Nos. of 300Wp solar panels.


The challenge

Area available for erection of 90 KWp plant on the rooftop of the newly constructed EIL building was not sufficient for installation of the standard design.

The solution

Module mounting superstructure
The Module Mounting structure of the system has been specially designed and customized according to the limited space available on the EIL building rooftop. As area available for erection of 90 Kw plant on the rooftop of the newly constructed EIL building was not sufficient for installation of the standard design, the Su-Kam solar team did a detailed engineering analysis and drew out a meticulous customized plan to accommodate the 90 kWp plant and delivered a solution meeting the stringent norms of the EIL team.

The resultant solution charted out has been able to overcome the problem of space constraint and other requirements of EIL. The team has made a seamless structure to avoid inter module and pergola shadowing that would have reduced the efficiency of the panels otherwise. The structure has also been designed on the dead load concept with no penetration in the rooftop thereby avoiding any effect on the waterproofing of the roof by avoiding any damages to the same.

Remote Monitoring

The Su-Kam team has devised SCADA which is a data logging system provided for remotely monitoring plant performance on a regular basis including electricity generated, ambient temperature, wind speed, module temperature and solar irradiance. This remote monitoring system enables easy maintenance from a far off location.

Su-Kam commissions 70 kWp Grid Tie Solar Power Plant for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), Faridabad

Solar Power Plant fo NHPC, Faridabad Su-Kam has embarked on a mission to provide solar power solutions to various corporate and government establishments to reduce their dependence on non-renewable energy. In line with the same, the company has installed and commissioned a 70 KWp Grid tie rooftop solar power plant at NHPC in their Phase-II office complex at sector-33, Faridabad.

The 70 kWp Grid tie solar PV system on the rooftop of the NHPC building shall generate over 85 thousand units of electricity/year thereby helping NHPC corporate office to save over 7 lakh rupees in electricity consumption annually!

The Solar PV system installed by Su-Kam comprises of 280 nos. of 250Wp solar panels, mounting structure, 2 nos. of 30 kW & 1 no. of 20 kW Grid tie String inverters, Scada for remote monitoring, desktop and printer for data logging and water pump for cleaning of modules.

Challenge

The authorities at the newly constructed NHPC phase-II office complex building were averse to any puncture or anchoring in the roof via the foundation to withstand structure and PV module load.

Solution

To comply with the said requirement, the Su-Kam solar team did a detailed engineering analysis and drew out a customized plan to accommodate the panel and structure load without puncturing the roof and delivered a solution. The solar PV plant installed at NHPC is unique as the foundation and module mounting structure has been designed on the “dead load concept with interconnected grid matrix” thereby avoiding any effect on the waterproofing of the roof by avoiding any damages to the same. It also gives huge stability to the PV structure in bad weather conditions.

System Design: Su-Kam’s engineering team did a detailed engineering analysis that enabled them to define the proposed mounting structure of the PV system and other system components as per NHPC’s requirement.

Product Selection: Su-Kam has chosen best in class and most suitable components for the Solar PV System. The quality and reliability of the parts is one of the most important criteria for Su-Kam’s successful project commissioning.

Erection and Commissioning: Su-kam installation team undertook the entire erection and commissioning process including system installation, system integration, civil work and power evacuation set-up.

Project Management: Su-Kam completed the project with the quality, reliability and functional requirement of the SPV system. The solar system which was commissioned on 25th March, ’14 was completed in a record time of 3 weeks.

45 kWp Solar Off -Grid Solar PV plant at Ujjayanta Market Complex, Agartala

Solar PV plant at Ujjayanta Market Complex, Agartala Su-kam has installed and commissioned a 45 kWp solar off grid roof top power plant at Ujjayanta Market Complex, Agartala. Ujjayanta Market complex is a newly constructed building of Agartala Municipal Corporation. The project was a part of Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency's plan (TREDA) to make Tripura one of the model solar states in the country.

Project Details

The System comprises of 180 nos. of 250Wp solar panels, mounting structure, 2 nos. of 65 KVA 360V Sukam inverters, 4 nos. of 30 Am 360V Su-kam solar charge controller, 800 Ah batteries.

Benefit

The off grid 45 kWp-capacity Solar PV plant is one of the projects in the state government's ambitious plan to turn Agartala into a solar city in the coming years. 25% of the building's total requirement shall be met by the solar PV power plant installed in the market complex.

35 kWp Solar Off-Grid Power plant at Vanbhavan, Nagpur (Maharashtra)

Solar Off-Grid Power plant at Vanbhavan, Nagpur (Maharashtra) Su-Kam has installed and commissioned a 35 kWp solar standalone roof top power plant at Vanbhavan, Nagpur. Vanbhavan is the Head office of Maharashtra Forest Department. The project was a part of Maharashtra Energy Development Agency's plans (MEDA) towards adopting Green Energy. The off grid 35 kWp-capacity Solar PV plant is one of the projects in the state government's ambitious plans to turn Nagpur city into a Green city through Solar in the coming years.

Project Details

The System comprises of 141 nos. of 250Wp solar panels, mounting structure, 1 nos. of 50 KVA 360V Su-Kam Inverter, 3 nos. of 30Amp/360V Su-kam Solar Charge Controllers, 1360Ah/360V battery bank. Su-Kam has also installed Water Distillation Plant through which distilled water can be prepared and can be used for Battery Water Topping.

Benefit

The total energy consumption of the building is 80 kW and 45% of the building's total requirement shall be met by the solar PV power plant installed at Vanbhavan building.
