10 years back, Afghanistan had no or very little access to internet. The communication network of the country was in disarray owing to instability and bitter conflict situations. As per official figures, the 5 telecom operators of the country are sharing around 18 million subscribers and around 85 percent of population is covered by mobile networks.
In a country like Afghanistan, a company like Su-Kam is going a way beyond to contribute to the growth of its telecommunications sector. The company was assigned a contract by Government of Afghanistan for installation of communication towers across 17 provinces that are completely powered by solar energy and with a diesel generator that acts a backup. 15 of these provinces deliver a 3 day backup without any solar power. The remaining 2 deliver a backup of 5 days. This entire solar power solution was provided by Su-Kam on turnkey basis.
Besides executing this large-scale project Su-Kam has also been helping the people of Afghanistan through its power backup products such as home UPS, commercial UPS, batteries, On-line UPS and solar products.
